Playing Tour Guide
It’s been a bit since I gave a proper update. The reason has been two fold. One, my computer is acting up, and half of the time, I can only see the top third of my screen. Do you know what time it is when the screen blacks out? Time for a new Mac!?
Second, April and I had a very busy weekend last week with the Orsborn clan in town. As a reminder, April’s Dad, Stepmom, two brothers, and the girlfriend of one of the brothers came in town for a visit. In an effort to be good host and hostess, April and I tried to take them and see some of the sites. I have to give many acknowledgments to April who worked really hard to get the house in order and planned most of the activities. And I tried really hard at being a good husband, i.e. I kept doing as I was told.
Here is the itinerary that we had:
Wednesday, June 4th – The Orsborn’s plane arrives at 11:30-ish pm. Rented a shuttle bus to take us back to Berkeley. Unbeknownst to us, the bus came with a crazy driver who took a normal 30 minute drive, and got us home in 15 minutes a la rollercoaster style.
Thursday, June 5th – And they rested.
Friday, June 6th – I drove…I drove a lot. Down to Oakland, across San Mateo bridge and into Half Moon bay. We continued down Highway one (a gorgeous drive along the pacific coast). Stopped at a beach. Caught people having sex on said beach. Pictures were taken and we left*. Continued on down to Santa Cruz. Left Santa Cruz and went and saw a few redwood trees. Left the woods, and drove to San Jose, back up to Oakland and into Berkeley.
Saturday, June 7th – Tour of Scharffenberger chocolate Factory. And I thought everyone likes dark gourmet chocolate?!? Left, and drove to the Golden Gate Bridge. Drove back to Berkeley, up to Berkeley Hills for this view (click here).
Sunday, June 8th – MLB baseball, California Angels vs Oakland Athletics. Nice game, and we all got nicely suntanned/burnt.
Monday, June 9th – Gave further tour of the Bay Area / San Francisco public transit system so that we could visit Alcatraz and Pier 39.
Tuesday, June 10th – April drops family off at SFO, and I go back to work.
That is a quick run down. When we weren’t running around, we relaxed at our apartment watching movies, drinking beer, and playing Wii sports. Even though I like playing tour guide, I really enjoyed the time at home. I got to talk, interact and just have quality family bonding time. All-in-all, I think everyone had a good experience. Hopefully, we’ll have pictures up soon.
*please see comment section for clarification
Wait, let me get this straight - you took pictures of people having sex on the beach?
Boy, that must’ve been an awkward bonding moment.
“Hopefully, we’ll have pictures up soon.”
I’m curious to see the subject matter of said pictures. Isn’t The Bauer Confidential a family-friendly site?
To clarify, April’s brothers got as close as they felt was comfortable, and took pictures from afar. I did not get close or take any pictures. Sorry for those who were getting a bit excited (pun intended). This is a PG rated blog, and I will try to keep it that way. I did think it was kind of brave/stupid of them for doing such acts on a state beach.
You really did take pictures of the, um, “special performance” on the beach? I thought you meant that you took pictures of the beach, and it just came out sounding otherwise.
This now begs the question….what kind of zoom lens did your brothers-in-law have?
Yeah, I kind of thought you had “misspoke”. Apparently you guys have been living out on the left coast for too long - those San Francisco values are setting in!
