For the next year or so she'll be having teeth come in pretty much constantly. What I remember most is how damp the whole process is. Poor little critters drool constantly and want to gnaw on everything. Don't worry too much about the hygiene of it when they start gumming on everything, just reasonable caution is needed. I'd remind myself that when their distant ancestors were babies they'd crawl around on the cave floor and gum any old bones that were laying around. It's good for their immune system, they say. Hard on the parent's nerves, though, because whatever they can grab goes right in the mouth.

Thanks all! She was pretty cranky for a few days last week and we just couldn't figure out what was going on (she's a little young to be teething). So finally I started looking and thought I saw a tooth coming through on the top. On Sunday Matt asked me if I didn't think there was one on the bottom too because she chomped down on his finger and he felt something sharp. Sure enough, this one is the first to come through. The one next to it is visible now too. She's been happier now that we're using baby Tylenol and I just got some orajel which I hope will help.

That's a fabulous picture -- and one which you will treasure for many years! Aren't those first teeth exciting? Sometimes they hurt so much when breaking through, though.
