Chewy Oatmeal Cookies with M&Ms and Chocolate Chips

I love cookies, pretty much every kind of cookie really. But I have a cookie idiosyncracity, I hate raisins in cookies, I hate raisins baked in anything actually. But Matthew, and many members of my family love oatmeal raisin cookies. Since I love to bake, I like to make things that other people enjoy, but I have a hard time forcing myself to make oatmeal raisin cookies. So I came up with this alternative. I love oatmeal in baked goods, mix in a little chocolate and you’ve got a winning combination!
- 3/4 C Butter-flavored Crisco
- 1 1/4 C Dark brown-sugar, packed
- 1/3 C Milk
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 tsp Vanilla
- 1 C AP Flour
- 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 3 C Quick Oats (not instant)
- 1/2 C Chocolate Chips
- 1/2 Cup M&Ms
- Preheat oven to 375oF.
- Cream together crisco and brown-sugar. Mix in egg, milk, and vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix in oats.
- Add oat mixture to sugar mixture and mix well to combine.
- Stir in chocolate chips and M&Ms.
- Bake on a parchment lined baking sheet (or one that’s been coated with non-stick spray). Drop spoonfuls approximately 2″ apart on cookie sheet.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes (I usual do 10 because I like them chewy).
